We here in the UAE are big on … biggest.

Tallest. Highest. Longest. Superlatives of any sort, especially if we can get the Guinness Book of World Records to recognize it as a world record.

Witness the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, the world’s tallest tower.

And, the latest “est” planned?

The world’s biggest gate.

That’s a big ol’ gate — 25 meters, or about 81 feet.

Where it will be placed, and what will be on either side of the gate … still up in the air. Way up in the air. Past anything more specific than”somewhere in Abu Dhabi.”

At the moment, planners seem most interested in getting the president’s name on the gate in as many languages/alphabets as possible.

OK, yes, the “world’s tallest gate” isn’t the grabber that the “world’s tallest tower” is … but it’s another superlative.
