Did a lot of running around Monday. Three events in the span of about eight hours.
First to the velodrome, where poor Sarah Hammer from Temecula suffered a broken collarbone in a crash … and I did a story on her parents’ reaction from the stands. I was sitting with them. Did I mention it also was her birthday? This piece appeared in the Temecula Californian.
Then back to the MPC and up to the (nearby) Olympic Green and to the smaller of the two field-hockey fields, where the American women dominated the game but settled for a scoreless tie with Great Britain. I did a piece for the North County Times on Allison Snow, the team’s Great Hope for a scorer.
After that, back to the MPC, and over to the volleyball venue, where the U.S. team had a 10 p.m. match with Japan … that didn’t actually start until 10:30. I was there to see Ryan Millar, the middle-blocker from Palmdale, for the Antelope Valley Press. That story is written but not yet posted yet. I’ll link it when it comes up.
