The UAE has fingerprints on this story. Of course it does.
This is the land of extremes, most of them on the outer end of biggest-fastest-tallest-most expensive.
So why not a $2 million guitar?
How does a Gibson SG-themed electric guitar command such a price?
That would be the 400 diamonds “set into a bed” of nearly two pounds of 18-karat gold.
As is usual is cases of UAE extremes, the people involved with the guitar have gone to the Guinness records people to get it verified as the most expensive instrument guitar.
One wonders if the guitar can produce music, though that may be unfair to expect, with all the bling attached.
But what sort of sound will come out of an instrument weighed down by diamonds and gold?
Anyway, the $2 million guitar was “made in association with” Lifestyle Fine Jewellery (no, really, the Brits spell it that way), which is a Dubai company.
The actual blinging guitar is in Hong Kong at the moment. No one will be surprised if it is purchased by someone in the Emirates, for that average Joe who needs a little more than music from his guitar.
