So, it’s Sunday. I got out of bed and went to my cable TV and began trolling for the “random NFL game being televised in Hong Kong” … and found nothing.
“Hmm,” I thought. “Maybe it’s because England is playing a World Cup qualifier. … Or maybe they chose the Boston-Tampa Bay ballgame, instead.”
Only about two hours later did it hit me … hey, it’s Sunday in Hong Kong.
I’ll get used to this. Eventually. But I haven’t, yet.
I notice this most on weekends. It’s Saturday, and I go looking for college football scores.
It’s Sunday, I’m checking for the NFL.
I’ve been in China (Beijing or Hong Kong) for nearly half of the last two months … and I’m still dealing with the time difference. Twelve hours ahead of New York, 15 ahead of California.
Just walking around, sure, I am pretty much aligned to China time. It gets dark, I get tired, I sleep.
But this day-behind sports thing continues to fluster me.
It’s just so ingrained. A lifetime of “this is Saturday, it’s college football” to overcome, and my instincts are ahead of my brain.
Anyway, the college football day is about done — by noon Sunday here. The NFL, same thing — by noon Monday.
I wonder if even four full months here will enable me to get this right. “Hey, it’s Sunday! College football!”
As things stand now, I will be back in the States by the time the Super Bowl rolls around. Which is good. Because Super Sunday is Super Monday over here.

Maybe you ought to buy one of those “International Clocks”. A friend bought my husband one & that would certainly help you out.
