I love this kind of stuff.
I’m not completely into numbers, but I do tend to count things. To measure things. Scores stick in my head. Historical dates. (December 16, 1944, the first day of the Battle of the Bulge. June 18, 1815; Battle of Waterloo.)
We have a batch of fun numbers coming up this calendar year.
Well, actually, January 11 is just about behind us, unless you live in Hawaii. That being 1-11-11, in American usage, 11/1/11 in Euro style.
This comes after our binary year last year, with variations of 0 and 1. Who can forget 10-10-10? Or even 1-10-10 and 10-1-10?
These things don’t happen every year, you know. By the time we get to 2013 we’re not going to be able to match a month to the year until the year 2101, and I’m not sure how many of us will be around to see that.
So, let’s revel in this year. 1-11-11 is a good start. But we have more coming up.
11-1-11, of course.
And the big one: 11-11-11. Won’t see that for another century. We probably should have a party of some sort. It’s Veterans Day, but I don’t imagine they would mind us having an “eleventy-eleventy-eleventy” party. Starting with a toast at 11:11 a.m. Or maybe 11:11 p.m.
Just stuff I think about.
