I’m a bobblehead maniac. And I know it’s not just me.
I will see some random team play, for a bobblehead. I will endure sellout crowds, for a bobblehead. I love bobbleheads. They kill me. I can watch them wiggle for hours … even if the Chinese craftsmen didn’t quite do justice to whomever is supposed to be the face on that bobblehead. I’m sitting about two feet away from four bobbleheads, as I type this entry.
So, as a public-service announcement, I’m telling all readers of this blog right now the dates of the Dodgers’ planned bobblehead nights … for Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake. July 22 and May 20, respectively.
Here is the media release from the Dodgers:
DODGERS TO PROVIDE MANNY RAMIREZ AND CASEY BLAKE BOBBLEHEADS
 IN 2009
Â
LOS ANGELES – Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake will be the first two Dodgers featured on bobbleheads this season.  A third bobblehead will depict a player to be named later.
Casey Blake Bobblehead Night, presented by Carl’s Jr., takes place Wednesday, May 20 vs. the New York Mets. The Manny Ramirez Bobblehead Night, presented by Kaiser Permanente,  is Wednesday, July 22 vs. Cincinnati.
The third Bobblehead Night of the season is set for Wednesday, August 19 vs. St. Louis. Bobbleheads will be provided to the first 50,000 fans in attendance for each game.Â
The full 2009 Dodgers promotional schedule will be released in the near future.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, pioneers in sport and world culture, have won more games, more pennants, and more World Series than any other club in the National League since moving to Los Angeles. Since the start of the modern era in baseball, the Dodgers of Brooklyn and Los Angeles, combined, have a cumulative attendance of more than 180 million, the highest total in the history of baseball or any other sport.
Visit the Dodgers on the Internet at www.dodgers.com.
Â
Anyway, yeah. A Manny bobblehead? That will be a huge collector’s item — not that I would sell it, if I had one. How will they handle the dreads? So mark those dates, and get the tickets, if you’re a bobblehead … head.
This information is not yet on the Dodgers’ Web site. You have a few hours head start on maybe 25,000 of the other 55,000Â people who will be in the yard for those two nights.

When are they gonna make a Vin Scully bobblehead so I can put it next to my ones of Chick Hearn and Harry Carry?
