An Example of L.A. Fan Dopiness

May 12th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Basketball, Kobe, Lakers, NBA

Lakers fans are chanting “M-V-P” as Kobe Bryant goes to the line.

Uh, NO.

That was so last season. At the moment, the MVP is LeBron James. As it should be. The LeBron James whose Cavaliers are 8-0 in the playoffs. Not the Kobe Bryant whose team is 2-2 with Houston in the second round of the playoffs with Ron Artest and four guys named Shane.

Why do Lakers fans persist in this M-V-P thing?

The election is over. Kobe lost.

It’s like going to a public place and chanting “John Muh-CAIN!”

Anyway, too, to get back to something I speculated on earlier on this blog … Lakers fans are not yet hostile. But they are nervous, as could be expected when their team is down 15-11 and Kobe has as many turnovers (two) as points.

Also scary: Artest is hitting is early shots. He has seven points,  including a three.

I’ve been at the playoff games and wondering the same thing. Can we chant Ko-be or something else? He had his year, he’s no longer the MVP, the voting is over and he can’t win it anymore. It’s time for a new chant guys.
