Boston 97, Lakers 91.
Yes. Boston wins. After trailing by 24 in the first quarter, by 18 at the half and by 20 with six minutes left in the third quarter.
The Lakers dissolved like a sugar cube in a downpour. And the Celtics blew past them.
The Lakers are dead. They are done done done. Add this one to the top of the Lakers-vs.-Celtics nightmares. Right up there with Game 7 of the 1969 Finals and the McHale clothesline of Rambis in 1984. It was that horrible.
A game that was going to tie the series at 2-2 … left Boston up 3-1, and probably three days away from finishing off the Lakers here on Sunday.
More later. Just amazing. A heart-breaking, soul-crushing defeat.

Wait a minute … you predicted Boston winning in 6 games. But you didn’t see this coming. Do you feel any guilt?

Char: Actually the closest I came to a how-many-games prediction was five, possibly four, back on June 2. I feel no guilt in “not seeing it coming” because that headline refers to Game 4, specifically. When Team A is up by 20 over Team B, with the third quarter halfway gone … in that specific environment, no, no sane person expects that 20-point lead to dissolve. Bu the Lakers losing this series? I’ve seen that coming from the start, as postings on June 2 and June 4 make clear. Hate to see the end result, but I was harboring no delusions.
