Another Silly Expensive Bit of Dubai Real Estate

June 27th, 2015 · No Comments · Dubai

If you have 56 million dirhams ($15.3 million) burning a hole in your pocket, this “villa” on the Palm Jumeirah may be for you.

The photo gallery in The National begins under the title: Wake up to this view

Another monument to wretched excess in Dubai.

Sometimes, I feel like we have to give the residents of Las Vegas East some credit for “owning” their lavish tastes.

They not only don’t apologize, they get an agent and go to the meeting.

The interest bit about this story, to me, is that the five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot place is already furnished. With someone else’s stuff.

The realtor talks about how, at the upper end of the market, buyers often prefer furnished places — presumably assuming it’s not garish or too bizarre — because it’s such a hassle furnishing an 8,000-square-foot house.

So, someone else’s couch, someone else’s bed … not a problem, because the previous owners had “staff” to keep things tidy, and so do the next people coming in.

The Palm Jumeirah is a batch of low-lying, man-made islands just off the coast of Dubai, and they are shaped like the trunk and branches of a palm tree.

Expensive place.

Does offer views back to the mainland, where Dubai’s mega-towers are lined up.

Go through the photo gallery, above, if you’d like to see what furniture the previous folks left behind.

Not awful, in this case.
