I hate driving traffic to commercial sites, but this is an amusing slide show, and a bit of silliness seems like a good idea on a 115-degree Abu Dhabi day.
I’m also not a cat person. The world is divided into two halves, right? Dog people and cat people.
The whole of the UAE are cat people; I really can’t tell you the last time I’ve seen a dog in this country. Months and months. Really. Half a year, maybe. Dogs are unclean, and the handful who are in-country are owned by Westerners, but it’s not like you walk them. Did I mention it’s 115 degrees?
I am a dog person. I have been in long discussions for decades with cat people about this. It may have been a big part of my first date, way back when … which may explain why it didn’t lead to a second date.
Oh, I didn’t link you yet?
OK, then go ahead and try this.
Cats of war is a homage to the famous Shakespeare line about “let slip the dogs of war.”
Dogs have gone to battlefields for eons. Of late, they mostly are used for their abiity to sniff out things. Dogs, too (back to the old argument), will give their lives for their masters. Cats will say, “Hmm, looks like you’re in a fix. Hope it works out.”
So, if in theory cats have some characteristics that might make them useful in a combat situation (which the slide-show creator suggests), like night vision, the reality is that cats are not going to stick around in an unpleasant situation.
“Are those bullets? See ya.”
