Dodgers and a Hello Kitty Bobblehead!

March 19th, 2012 · No Comments · Baseball, Dodgers

Someone in the Dodgers marketing department deserves a raise.

This is just plain brilliant:

A Hello Kitty “mini bobblehead” night at Dodger Stadium.

First off, this was announced on Thursday past … so I assume it already is a sellout.

This contains three elements that could fill Dodger Stadium several times over.

1. It’s a bobblehead. Tens of thousands of baseball fans will go to a game anywhere if a bobblehead is being given away.

2. It’s Hello Kitty! This is a brand with more than $1 billion in sales annually, and it isn’t just little girls who collect the stuff, but thousands upon thousands of twenty- and thirty-somethings determined to live life “ironically.”

3. It’s a Dodgers Hello Kitty! HK is wearing Dodgers colors. A lot of parents are going to take the brand’s primary customers — young girls — to a baseball game, . Something they perhaps may not do often. If at all. This means potential new fans for the Dodgers. At the least, 50,000 people will go home with a Hello Kitty in a Dodgers jersey, and will be likely to look at it … a lot.

This is brilliant. I would go, if I were in California the day of that game.

Here is the news release the Dodgers posted. Good luck getting tickets.
