Services for Jim Long, former San Bernardino Sun and Victorville Daily Press sports writer who died last week at age 46, will be held Friday, Oct. 9, his wife, Judith Pfeffer, said in an e-mail.
Here is the information:
“The graveside (outdoor) service celebrating the life of Jim Long will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Avenue, Bloomington. From the Interstate 10, take the Cedar Avenue off-ramp and go south to the small cemetery in a rustic area on the east side of the street. Afterward, people are invited to Congregation Bamidbar, Sixth and Tracy streets, Old Town Victorville, for additional prayers and a dairy/vegetarian reception.
“The family strongly prefers that no flowers, wreaths, potted plants or greenery of any kind be brought or sent. Information on suitable memorial donation opportunities will be made readily available.
“For any questions, send e-mail to JimsWife17@yahoo.com
Judith invites those who knew Jim to send along their remembrances. “I’ll keep it up as long as people remember Jim fondly; I’m hoping that it will be for a long time,” she wrote. “As time goes on, innovative ways may be found to more widely share his work in both writing and photography.”
