Marking Time

November 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · Abu Dhabi

Just before we came over to Abu Dhabi, we stocked up on a few items we weren’t sure we could get here. Not at the same price.

And where do you go in SoCal to get items in bulk?

Costco. Of course.

I take vitamins. Figure it can’t hurt. And when you buy them in bulk, the price is minimal.

I arrived here with a full bottle of multivitamins, 400 count.

It seemed like a bottomless bottle of big tablets, long, a bit rough on the exterior. No sugar-coating. Heavy, too. And bulky; the jar took up real space in one of our few drawers in the Teeny Apartment.

I don’t miss too many days. I take my vitamins with me on trips.

But there were 400 of them, when we left LAX.

Yesterday, I took the last one out of that bottomless plastic bottle. I made a bit of an occasion of it. I brought it out to the living room (or the “other” room) … and made a show out of holding up the big bottle, turning it upside down and catching the last tablet as it clattered out.

The point being, I have been gone from home long enough to have missed a few days of vitamins — and still polished off a bottle of 400, one-a-day type multivitamins.

I have more. A brand new bottle of 400 handed over to me in France by Leah’s parents, who had bought it at Costco.

This bottle is also big and seems bottomless, too.

Wonder where I will be if/when I finish that one.
