I’ve got to get to the bottom of this.
Here at the Main Press Center, and also at the media hotel at which I am staying, signs are posted asking bathroom patrons to put soiled toilet tissue … in a waste can next to the toilet.
No paper is supposed to go down the toilet. Even if it really, really needs to.
This seems very curious. I will check into this and get back to you on it. I assume it has to do with sewage management. Or maybe old pipes?
Anyway, I have a new nominee for “World’s Dirtiest Jobs,” or whatever that cable series was known as.
Being the “Used-Toilet-Paper Can Emptier” at the Main Press Center.
They can’t pay those guys enough.

This is VERY common throughout Asia, where most toilets connect to a septic tank, not sewer systems, which doesn’t handle paper well.
